SBIC's Programs & Partnerships

Our Programs

SBIC has been a national leader in defining the concept of high-performance buildings for nearly thirty years.  The concept evolved from an initial focus on energy use to a broader focus on the full range of sustainable and green strategies.  The Council is now moving to the next phase of this evolutionary process: going Beyond GreenTM to teach the industry how to create facilities that integrate a more comprehensive range of design objectives.

Although realizing this vision may seem daunting, SBIC has the educational programs and emerging tools to help make designing and delivering a high-performance building a reality.

We focus on the following building types:

“The power of SBIC as an organization is that it helps us identify synergies and look at opportunities for sharing resources.  The results are better buildings.”

Our Partnerships

In two and a half decades, SBIC has established and maintained successful partnerships with government agencies, and others whose work related to the built environment.  Our proactive approach allows us to recognize a diverse array of experts and bring them together to learn from, and complement, each other's talents and experience.  One of our most acclaimed alliances was forged as staff, members, and government partners joined to develop the Whole Building Design Guide.  When working with SBIC - whether the catalyzing event is a workshop, seminar, discussion forum, or a national policy initiative - the results are effective.  SBIC members and partners share the common goal of delivering buildings that provide long-term value and performance, reduce operating costs, keep occupants safe, comfortable and healthy, and protect the natural environment.

We offer the following programs for all building types:
